About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Structural and Payload Design Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join their Fabrication Division team in Portland, OR. The role involves developing, integrating, and documenting structural systems requirements to establish fabrication-ready system designs. As a design engineer, you will use 3-D CAD tools to create and modify designs that support production and assembly, validate systems through analysis and testing, manage supplier fabrication activities, and contribute to process improvements and future product concepts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 5+ years' experience in structural and payload design or related engineering roles within the aerospace industry, specifically in commercial airplane programs

Nice To Haves

  • 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • 3+ years’ experience using CATIA v5 and ENOVIA
  • Experience with calculating Structural/Stress Analysis
  • Design for manufacturing experience
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with suppliers and cross-functional teams
  • Experience in commercial airplane programs

Responsibilities

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural systems requirements to establish the system design
  • Develops, maintains and modifies structural systems and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle
  • Performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals
  • Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort
  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
  • Works under general direction

  • Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
  • Summary pay range Level 3 (Experienced): $117,900 - $144,100
  • Summary pay range Level 4 (Senior): $143,100 - $174,900
  • Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
