Fletcher Technical Community College is seeking an unclassified adjunct instructor for the Energy & Advanced Technologies department. The instructor will be responsible for maintaining performance standards and pursuing goals that align with the college's mission and values. This role involves providing meaningful instruction, developing course syllabi, maintaining accurate records, and advising students on their academic progress. The instructor will also participate in professional development activities and represent the college positively.

  • Maintain performance standards and pursue goals, objectives, and activities that promote the mission, vision and value statement of the College.
  • Attend and provide meaningful instruction for all classes/modules during the semester/session.
  • Develop, distribute, and post course syllabi prior to the start of class.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and evaluation records.
  • Adhere to all timelines established by the college.
  • Provide classroom instruction in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Advise and mentor students related to course progress and retention strategies.
  • Share ideas and information, and work toward common department and College goals.
  • Foster a culture of mutual respect for students, guests, and co-workers.
  • Complete all academic and occupational credential requirements.
  • Be available to students via phone or email for assistance.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Represent the college in a professional manner.
  • Adhere to College and LCTCS policies.
  • Complete all required assignments prior to deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Instruct students in the safe and proper use of equipment.
  • Inspect and assess quality and strength of fitting work.
  • Complete documentation related to fitting inspections.
  • Serve as a resource to students in pursuit of employment or educational opportunities.
  • Ensure that all equipment and technology are operational.
  • May require working weekends and early morning or evening hours.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 36 months of work experience in the field.
  • Knowledgeable in and able to teach a variety of structural fitting/shipfitting courses.
  • Good instructional techniques and computer knowledge.
  • Student-centered attitude and well organized.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • NCCER Core or OSHA certification preferred or to be obtained within the first 90 days of hire.
  • Certified Welding Inspector.
  • Teaching experience at the college level or high school level.
