About The Position

M&J Engineering, P.C. is a quality provider of multi-discipline consulting services with over 300 employees. M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel airport, port, marine/coastal, environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations. We are hiring four professionals to support WMATA’s Structural Inspection, Quality Control, and Maintenance Engineering programs. These roles are essential to ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of WMATA’s structural assets. Candidates will work in the field conducting inspections, documenting deficiencies, and coordinating with engineering and maintenance teams to address structural issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• NBIS certification (N-I or N-III) required depending on role level.
• 3–10+ years of experience in structural inspection, field engineering, or quality control.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in the field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with WMATA inspection protocols and regional transit infrastructure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections of bridges, tunnels, aerial structures, and station elements.
• Perform quality control reviews and prepare detailed inspection reports.
• Identify and document structural deficiencies in accordance with NBIS and AASHTO standards.
• Issue red/yellow flags and follow up on corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection logs, test records, and quality documentation.
• Coordinate with WMATA staff, contractors, and third-party inspectors.
