About The Position

WSP is seeking a Full Time Generation Civil/Structural Engineering Intern - Summer 2026 Intern to work out of our Boise, ID office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.
WSP USA hosts hundreds of internships across the United States to gain hands-on, meaningful work experience to enhance their education and professional aptitude. Our interns gain exposure to real projects while working side by side with senior staff. This internship is anticipated to take place during the Summer 2026 semester. The program is anticipated to take place from May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026. The individual start date is flexible.

Requirements

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Civil Engineering, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
• Able to report to the Boise office throughout the duration of the internship.

Nice To Haves

• Actively enrolled in an ABET accredited Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related, Masters program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
• Field experience
• Prior internship and/or leadership involvement on campus.
• Ideal coursework includes structural analysis, concrete, steel, soils, foundations, and surveying.
• Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills will be critical for the successful completion of tasks.
• Prior internship and/or related engineering experience is a plus.
• Students who have passed or are scheduled to take the FE/EIT exam will be strongly considered for this position.
• Familiarity with design, drafting, or engineering software such as MATHCAD, BLUEBEAM, AUTOCAD, etc. as well as Microsoft Excel is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Civil and Structural Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
