AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to join our Edison, New Jersey office. AtkinsRéalis is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering, and project management consultancies. AtkinsRéalis has been providing infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, urban planning, architecture, and program management services to public and private clients across the United States for more than 50 years. Our Internship Program, Explore, is designed for college students pursuing a degree in a STEM field and provides opportunities to learn what it’s like to work in a professional environment and apply what’s learned in class to the real-world challenges we face every day.

  • Prepare assigned sections of reports working under the review of a more experienced professional.
  • Collect and analyze data using established procedures and participate in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
  • Travel to client sites for investigations up to 50%.
  • Assist Senior Engineers in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings.
  • Participate on projects involving construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications; assist in recordkeeping and in generating progress reports; observe construction procedures and collect samples for quality control testing.
  • Develop engineering calculations under the supervision of senior structural engineers.
  • Perform field observations of construction where appropriate.
  • 0-2 Years experience in a related technical field.
  • Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil, structural or architectural engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship.
  • Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn.
  • Must have good computer skills and be able to utilize standard office software.
  • Experience with Revit (preferred)
