Structural Engineer – Metal Space Radomes We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer with expertise in metallic and composite structures to support the design, analysis, and development of Metal Space Radomes for aerospace and satellite applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of structural mechanics, thermal effects, material behavior, and precision manufacturing in high-reliability environments. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams—including RF, thermal, materials, and manufacturing engineers—to deliver lightweight, robust, high-performance radome solutions for space and high-altitude platforms. Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, or Civil Engineering with a focus on structures.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace structural design and analysis.
  • Proficiency in FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN, Abaqus).
  • Strong grasp of metallic material behavior under thermal and vibrational loads.
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards (NASA, DoD, ECSS, or equivalent).
  • Effective communicator with cross-functional team experience.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in engineering design tools and MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles and scope management.

Nice To Haves

  • PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze structural loads on radomes and components due to wind, gravity, ice, and seismic forces.
  • Perform stress and deflection analysis on steel, aluminum, and composite parts and assemblies.
  • Evaluate reinforced concrete foundations across varied soil conditions using geotechnical data.
  • Conduct dynamic analysis of structures and foundations to assess system behavior.
  • Develop finite element models for stress, deflection, and dynamic response.
  • Apply CFD tools to assess wind and thermal effects on structures.
  • Perform manual calculations for components unsuitable for FEA.
  • Support FEA with classical hand calculations as needed.
  • Size members and design connections per AISC and Aluminum Design Manual standards.
  • Convert wind speeds to pressures using ASCE-7 guidelines.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and drafters to meet structural requirements.
  • Document and organize technical analyses and design reports.
  • Manage structurally intensive programs and maintain project organization.
  • Create scripts, macros, or tools to streamline repetitive tasks and complex calculations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
