In this position, you will serve a critical role in helping us execute advanced technology projects and conduct space launch programs for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and other government agencies. We are looking for a candidate who combines strong communication, organization, task management, and ownership skills with broad interests and experience in the aerospace industry. As a key member of a small, dynamic, and highly skilled team, you will be expected to actively collaborate with others as well as work independently to accomplish assignments and responsibilities successfully. Creativity and methodical problem solving are both required.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in related role in aerospace, automotive or related industry
  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (M.S. preferred) or similar.
  • Strong understanding of the materials, components and operating conditions found in Solid Rocket Motors
  • Specifically including orthotropic composites of various types
  • You need to communicate well with other people in writing and speaking.
  • You need to manage your time and tasks well.
  • You need to work well with others in different locations.
  • Must be a US Persons as defined by § 120.62 of the ITAR

Nice To Haves

  • Highly preferred: viscoelastic and hyperelastic materials and their models
  • Demonstrated experience in modern CAD and analysis tools: Solidworks and Abaqus
  • Well versed in modern manufacturing methods

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze structural components of rocket motors including but not limited to cases, nozzles, insulators.
  • Design and update related motor component models including metallic parts, nozzles, insulation
  • Perform 2D and 3D structural analysis to support your design process
  • Function as a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) expert and generate reports and results for parts, assemblies, and other features based on given loads
  • Create and revise drawings and models that lead directly to manufacturing
  • Collaborate with vendors to determine the appropriate materials and methods to produce parts
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation (drawings, requirements, analysis reports, test plans/reports, etc.)
  • Support composite manufacturing processes such as tape wrapping or molding
  • Plan and oversee testing and instrumentation for development and qualification of flight hardware
  • Create designs to support proposals and internal advanced development topics
  • Support all phases of manufacturing, assembly and test of your designs
