The Structural Engineer will be required to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism and client focus/customer service; be resourceful and flexible, effective at handling multiple tasks; have good computer skills; have strong presentation, written, and verbal skills; and be able to effectively delegate or be delegated to while working in a collaborative format with multiple team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures
  • 5+ years of experience in the design of industrial, power generation, and facilities and structures
  • working knowledge of Structural Analysis and Design Software (specifically RAM suite preferred)
  • BIM strategies using Revit and Navisworks
  • PE License (or on path to obtain)
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Ability to travel to client locations as needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to lead the pursuit of projects for new and existing clients by meeting with them to discuss the projects, conducting presentations, and writing proposals.
  • Ability to provide technical assessments of potential project opportunities to aide in project go/no-go decisions.
  • Ability to lead and oversee the work of other engineers and designers as a Project Design Lead or a Project Manager to develop project deliverables.
  • Ability to perform structural analysis and design calculations following office structural design standards.
  • Ability to stay abreast of new design and analysis technologies and building materials through continuing education activities. Specific design-related services include:
  • Building foundation design, including shallow and deep foundations
  • Concrete pit and trench design
  • Soil retention design, including those for temporary construction
  • Slab on grade and elevated slab design
  • Equipment lifting design and layout
  • Fall protection design for general industry and construction
  • Building design using steel, concrete, masonry, and wood
  • Connection design
  • Equipment support design and layout
  • Mechanical process piping supports
  • Develop specification documents

Responsibilities

  • Provide value to our clients by evaluating options based upon the client’s needs and desires, first cost, and life cycle cost.
  • Communicate your design recommendations to our clients, project team, construction contractors, and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email, and phone as necessary.
  • Work alone on projects, or work on a project team with other technical staff to design and detail the new structural systems that are needed.
  • Assure work is accurate and coordinated, and that the quality assurance measures have been followed.
  • Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate contact with our existing clients so that they think of our firm when services are needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
