About The Position

A well-established structural engineering firm located in Elkridge, MD is seeking a structural engineer to join their team. The company provides structural engineering solutions for the construction industry. Typical clients are general contractors, shoring and bracing subcontractors, demolition subcontractors, and many more. They assist their clients by providing cost-effective, structurally sound and practical solutions for some of the most complex construction problems.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structures, preferred
• At least 3 - 5 years of structural engineering experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, and structural engineering analysis programs such as RISA 3D, Enercalc, and StructurePoint software

Nice To Haves

• Scaffold, Hoisting, and Shoring knowledge, preferred

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design and prepare documentation for temporary shoring, bracing, formwork, hoist, scaffold, and overhead protection systems.
• Perform condition assessments of existing structures and if applicable analyze and design necessary repairs and renovations.
• Analyze existing structures due to loading from construction equipment.
• Uses computer-aided design (CAD) software to prepare deliverables, including submittals, details and sketches.
• Prepares formal and informal calculations using structural engineering fundamentals, construction best-practices and general knowledge of scaffolding and shoring.
• Follows design codes and standards published by - IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS, and other.
• Meets with clients, both on site and in the office, to discuss project requirements and/or design approaches.
