The Thornton Tomasetti Construction Engineering Practice leverages our core Structural Engineering expertise to meet the engineering needs of our contractor. We provide contractor support engineering, tower crane engineering, skip hoist engineering, shoring and reshoring design, connection design, and erection engineering. We also partner with contractors and sub-contractors to provide value engineering ideas and perform structural design on design-build projects. The Role We are seeking a talented Structural Engineer for our Philadelphia office. Candidates for the Structural Engineer position should have experience in small-size projects such as cultural buildings, office buildings, health care, and research facility design, and tenant renovation work preferably in a consulting engineering firm environment. The Engineer will also be involved in tower crane and skip hoist engineering, shoring/reshoring design, contractor support engineering, erection engineering and the design of structures that are delegated to the contractor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of current industry software, including SAP2000, ETABS, Ram, Risa3-D, PCA Software, Revit, and AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally in Philadelphia region with potential for occasional US travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Structural analysis, design, and details for all types of buildings and materials using a variety of building codes.
  • Coordination of design work with in-house staff as well as other design professionals including Architects and other Engineering disciplines.
  • Preparation of construction documents within a BIM environment.
