Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, engineering, and technical fields as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) located in Upton, NY. AIS has an established history of contributing to the success of our customer's mission. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel in direct support of our Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) customer which manages BNL. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratory. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy. Job duration is projected to be a 24-month period of performance with the preferred candidate working a hybrid (on-site/remote) schedule with on-site work performed as determined by BSA Technical Leads. There is potential for an authorized remote work schedule with occasional travel to the Lab as required. AIS is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to provide expertise in support services including a structural analysis of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) tunnel to evaluate projected dead and live loads. The successful candidate requires functional knowledge and specific capabilities in the area of piping supports, cable tray mounting and corrugated steel pipe structural analysis. The successful candidate should be able to perform duties with general direction and be able to work independently and collaboratively toward design and technical solutions. The successful candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with diverse staff including engineering, maintenance, research operations, and others.
