Requirements

  • Bachelors degree to Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis is required
  • Entry-level to 2 years of experience is required
  • Engineer In Training certification
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or a comparable drafting platform is required
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000 or a comparable equivalent is required
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Due to client parameters, selected candidate must show (post offer) proof of U.S. citizenship and clear results of a thorough background check that may include but is not limited to credit and criminal history
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire

Nice To Haves

  • A Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis is preferred
  • Previous experience or internship/cooperative education in heavy civil, structural, or marine/waterfront design is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the conceptual development and design of waterfront structural projects across various industries including container shipping, defense, bulk material handling, and oil and gas
  • Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing of concrete and steel structures
  • Analyze static and dynamic loading on laterally performing structures, including the impact of soil-structure interaction
  • Develop finite element models of marine structures using software such as SAP2000 and Xtract
  • Prepare calculations and document design information for completed designs Coordinate structural detail development with engineers and drafting technicians
  • Perform site inspections and condition assessments of existing structures
