About the position

The Structural Engineer, P.E. - Forensics position at EFI Global involves investigating structural failures and providing expert opinions on complex engineering assignments. The role requires a strong background in structural damage assessment and failure analysis across various types of structures, including commercial, residential, and industrial. This remote position emphasizes collaboration, customer orientation, and professional integrity, allowing engineers to leverage their expertise in a supportive and flexible work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the origin and cause of structural failures including roof damage, water intrusion, and post-fire damage.
  • Conduct surveys of losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings.
  • Investigate and assess damages due to failures and document the scope of damage caused by acute events.
  • Analyze and document failure analysis and causation of failures.
  • Collaborate with other investigators to produce detailed reports outlining the cause and origin of losses and damages.
  • Serve as an expert witness in court and/or in depositions.
  • Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis for forensic engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in the resident state, with preference for multi-state licensing and/or active NCEES Record.
  • Experience in structural damage assessment and failure analysis.
  • Expert witness testimony experience is a plus.
