About The Position

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer to join their team in Englewood, Colorado, starting in May 2025. This role involves applying knowledge of materials, structural analysis, and design in the oil and gas sector. The engineer will work on various projects, conducting structural analyses and guiding design efforts under the supervision of the Structural Lead.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred) with graduation in Spring 2025 from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Knowledge in the design of oil and gas facilities, focusing on steel structures and concrete foundations.
  • Experience in writing support documentation for Structural Engineering calculations.
  • Technical knowledge of structural engineering applications, including analysis for supports and design integrity.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, LPILE, or ANSYS.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Construction and start-up experience.
  • EIT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create calculations, document designs, and specifications for structural engineering projects.
  • Conduct structural analyses considering loading conditions such as wind, seismic, blast, and pressurization.
  • Guide designers in structural engineering design efforts and coordinate detailed design phases.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a variety of structural engineering issues.
  • Develop integrated structural designs and perform supporting calculations.
  • Prepare technical specifications for structural materials.
  • Perform independent reviews of calculations and drawing preparations by others.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure timely design completion.
  • Review existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements, presenting findings to clients.
