About The Position

Structural Engineer (Bridge) PE Role Description: Huitt-Zollars has a great full-time opportunity for a Structural Engineer (Bridge) PE at our Dallas office . This position may also be located in Dallas or Austin, TX. This full-time structural position is within our transportation group and also provides the opportunity to support other disciplines on an as needed basis. HZ’s portfolio includes prestressed, post-tensioned and conventionally reinforced concrete structures as well as steel structures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in State of Texas
  • Ability to obtain license in other states
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Passionate about transportation and major highway design projects
  • Ability to work / lead in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (MSCE) is a plus
  • Proficient with TxDOT design practice and guidelines highly preferred
  • Experience with relevant technology/software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, RISA, STADD

Responsibilities

  • Apply prescribed methods and procedures in accordance with established criteria
  • Prepare calculations in accordance with applicable design codes by following standard engineering practices and procedures within established guidelines
  • Prepare detailed designs, plans and specifications for bridges and other transportation structures
  • Manage all project aspects including scope of work development, fee development, and subconsultant management
  • Assist business development and project pursuits
  • Interact and collaborate with clients, owners and other highway disciplines
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers
  • Implement Huitt-Zollars’ Quality Management Plans for project deliverables
  • Productively collaborates with PMs and other project TMs and leads or encourages task teams to achieve success and camaraderie amongst each other.
  • Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives.
  • Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on assigned project tasks and daily operations.
  • Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.
  • Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the PM on assigned project tasks.
  • Complete project task assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
  • Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Effectively leads, creates, plans, executes project tasks on a project.
