Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred
  • 0 to 2 years of experience
  • EIT certification preferred
  • Intern experience preferred
  • Experience with VDOT projects desirable
  • Experience with MicroStation and/or Open Bridge Modeler desirable
  • Experience with STAAD, SAP2000, or similar a plus
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Availability and willingness to travel
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Responsibilities

  • Utilize structural analysis software for design, such as: Leap Bridge Concrete, Leap Bridge Steel, Open Bridge Modeler, STAAD, SAP2000, etc.
  • Complete design tasks with supervision and learn to work independently
  • Coordinate the structural design with other disciplines and construction team
  • Become familiar with various structural standards and building codes such as: AASHTO, AREMA, and UPRR/BNSF guidelines
  • Compile data and perform calculations required for the preparation of drawings and design studies
  • Prepare cost estimates
  • Prepare construction documents
  • Collaborate with Bridge and Rail Team and all company disciplines
  • Conduct bridge inspections and assist in supervision of site investigations as needed
