Shive-Hattery’s Food + Pharmaceutical market has an immediate opening in the Iowa City, Iowa office for a BIM Technology Specialist – Structural with up to 3 years’ experience. Working with Shive-Hattery will provide candidates with the opportunity to take on more responsibility and have more client contact as they grow and learn. While knowledge of the software that we use is required, Shive-Hattery is a learning and teaching organization that invests in their employees. As you grow in your position and grow your knowledge, you will be asked to take on more responsibility with clients.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate degree in CAD Technology
  • Experience: this is an entry-level/early career position for a self-motivated technology power user
  • Software: Autodesk REVIT and AutoCAD – Structural focus preferred but not required. General computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Autodesk REVIT to create models and drawings that document the structural design of buildings and industrial-related structures
  • Produce construction drawings at each stage of the design and documentation process, working closely with engineering staff for feedback and quality control
  • Maintain master models for client campuses
  • Work in a team setting with other structural team members and disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, architectural, and civil
  • Assist in the coordination of structural design with team members of other disciplines
  • Assist in field investigations of existing facilities and collect 3D laser scans to get accurate data
  • Assist with certain structural design tasks under the guidance of a structural engineer
  • Grow your knowledge of building construction methods, structural systems, details, coordination, and drawing production
