Our team of interdisciplinary engineers works collaboratively with clients to design buildings and processes that are on track for safety, performance, and sustainability. The role of a Structural Designer is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger projects under the guidance of a senior engineer. As a Structural EIT you will be able to perform structural analysis, design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of structural building codes and requirements.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building code and other similar material.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience including architects, engineers, and clients effectively.
  • Basic understanding of Revit, and the use of it as a drafting/design tool.
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit; Bluebeam Revu; Component Design Software such as Enercalc; Finite Element Analysis Software such as RISA and SAP/ETABS.
  • 4 years of related experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering with an emphasis in structures is required
  • NCEES EIT is preferred but not required
  • Experience with earthquake seismic design or coursework is required
  • Experience with Revit and other BIM 3D modelling software is preferred
  • Prior internship experience at an engineering related firm is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural calculations and analysis of buildings and other structures.
  • Assist in preparing deliverable documents including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Works with and coordinates with architectural, interiors, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist Construction Administration duties including completing field observations reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders.
  • Participate in project meetings; communicate design issues and solutions with the design team.
  • Develop an understanding of industry standard design processes and construction means and methods.
  • Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service.
  • Assist with the development of design standards.
