Summary Description: Responsible for the development of specific discipline (mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil or structural) design packages for the installation of complex industrial projects. Requires heavy interaction with client and engineering discipline counterpart. Responsible for oversight of discipline design project team. Normally assigned to small to middle size projects. Duties: Planning the design effort based on approved scope of work and schedule. Layout drawings from engineer’s sketches and verbal instructions. Lead field layout effort and determine routing and layout of piping and equipment. Development of detailed drawings utilizing personal discretion and judgment. Coordinating design with other disciplines. Maintaining good working relationships with all disciplines. Responsible to the Senior Design Specialist and/or the Project Engineer or Lead Engineer. Supervise designers and drafters work quality and production on small to middle size projects. Provide adequate instructions to enable the performance of their task with quality work. Prepare and participate in 3D model reviews. Responsible for coaching and teaching of designers and drafters. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) with at least ten (10) years of experience, or an Associates Degree in a related technical field, or two (2) years of college work toward a related Bachelor of Science degree, and at least five (5) years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the jobs such as those listed above.
