The Boeing Technology Innovation (BTI) organization is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join the Structures Technology team in North Charleston, South Carolina. Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate, Mid-Level, and Senior Level Structural Design Engineers. The position focus is on one or more of the following areas: Airframe demonstrator design, rapid prototyping, extreme environment structures, aircraft fuselage and component systems, development of demonstrator and prototype articles, and propulsion structural technology. Boeing Technology Innovation is the preferred provider of technologies and innovation across the entire Boeing enterprise. We work across the complete product lifecycle of Boeing's commercial aircraft, military aircraft, rotorcraft, space vehicles, UAVs, and advanced vehicle prototypes. We provide innovative support for current and future products and services, act as global scouts for innovative technologies, and solve our customers' most difficult technology challenges. BTI Design is focused on discovering, developing, and transitioning innovative structures technology into Boeing products. We develop, integrate, and transition advanced structural architectures and design concepts. We advance the state of the art in methods and tools for structural analysis. We accelerate the qualification and certification of new materials and structures. Requirements

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 1+ years of experience with aircraft structural design
  • 1+ years of experience using CAD Tools
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design
  • Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle
  • Performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals
  • Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort
  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
