The Structural Design Engineer is responsible for designing buildings and civil engineering projects in accordance with relevant codes and standards complying with the project requirements. Throughout the design process, they produce technical reports, drawings, bills of quantities and specifications covering all the project lifecycle. The Structural Design Engineer can also coordinate and supervise structural designs, ensuring that the solution is optimized, safe and compliant with the relevant codes. Job Description Structural design of buildings and civil engineering structures, such as bridges, culverts and retaining walls, to name a few. Refurbishment of existing structures in accordance with client requirements, codes and standards such as CSA-S6-CHBDC, AASHTO and ACI. Coordination and liaison with clients, approving authorities, partnering design firms and internal production centers abroad. Preparation of technical notes, engineering drawings, specifications, and BoQ of the structures Proficient in the use of computer software for the analysis and design of complex structures Such as CSI software, Midas or similar Supervise and quality-control the quantity calculations and take-offs completed by junior staff. Make sure the BoQ are in line with the standard ratios. Checking designs, technical notes, structural models, drawings and specifications Be aware and basic knowledge of contract documents with accurate and current specifications, special provisions, and Non-Standard Special Provisions. Review of shop drawings. Visit to construction sites and respond to Client’s RFC’s. Maintenance of existing client base and business development to expand the client base, including preparation of technical proposals and fee estimates. Coordinating, coaching, and mentoring intermediate and junior staff. Other duties as assigned. Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaborative risk evaluation with project teams. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic construction environment and adapt to evolving conditions. Proficiency in functioning across multiple time zones while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams comprising individuals from various fields of expertise
