About The Position

Structural Design Engineer Lead and Senior (Level 4 and Level 5) Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Structural Design Engineer Lead and Senior (Level 4 and Level 5) to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A successful member of this team will understand and execute modifications and upgrades for the Bombers (B-1 and/or B-52) programs. Position Responsibilities: Lead (Level 4) Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design. Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals. Assists with investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Works under minimal direction. Position Responsibilities: Senior (Level 5) Provides oversight and direction to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design. Leads development, maintenance and modification of structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals. Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort. Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Works under consultative direction. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical and/or structural design
  • 10+ years of experience creating, executing, reviewing, and managing structural design models
  • 10+ years of experience working conceptual, preliminary and detailed design including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables
  • 10+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • 10+ years of experience in CAD/CAM software (CATIA V5, SolidWorks, Siemens NX)
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • 15 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance
  • Experience validating or verifying structural models
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures, secondary structures, interior payloads
  • Experience with analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
