The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Experienced and Senior Structural Design Engineer (Level 3 and Level 4) to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
  • Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods.
  • Performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
  • Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Assists with investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical and/or structural design
  • 5+ years of experience creating, executing, reviewing, and managing structural design models
  • 5+ years of experience working conceptual, preliminary and detailed design including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables
  • 5+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • 5+ years of experience in CAD/CAM software (CATIA V5, SolidWorks, Siemens NX)
  • 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance
  • Experience validating or verifying structural models
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures, secondary structures, interior payloads
  • Experience with analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
