About The Position

NIKA is hiring for a Structural/Civil Engineer to support the Defense Health Agency's (DHA) Engineering Division in San Antonio, TX. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of four (4) years practical experience in the healthcare field.
  • Three (3) years of experience must have occurred within the last four (4) years.
  • Direct responsibility for execution of design, installation, maintenance, or major repair of building structural systems supporting commercial, institutional, industrial, or medical healthcare.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems that contemporaries cannot resolve.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Structural and Civil infrastructure analysis, assessments & recommendations.
  • Understand building and retaining.
  • Understand Life Safety design.
  • Understand models by using computer-aided design.
  • Determine loads and pressures caused by environmental or human factors.
  • Follow construction safety protocols.
  • Choose appropriate materials based on industry standards.
  • Monitor on-site construction.
  • Communicate designs, assessments, and reports through presentations.
  • Prepare and allocate project resources.
  • Track and report on project progress.
  • Collaborate with contractors and project teams.
  • Perform site investigations and analyze structural/civil requirements.
  • Conduct meetings and design reviews with various offices.
  • Develop plans, specifications, and detailed cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure the quality of the total design.
  • Troubleshoot ongoing construction projects.
  • Prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Ensure building materials are tested for stability and safety.
  • Manage the repair, maintenance, and replacement of structures.
  • Evaluate proposed projects and technical solutions based on need, code compliance, effectiveness, and life cycle cost.
  • Answer technical Requests for Information (RFIs) in accordance with codes, regulations, and DHA policy and procedures.
  • Travel to sites to investigate open requirement packages and conduct detailed inspections of existing conditions of equipment.
  • Provide a comprehensive and formal travel report detailing observations, findings, and recommendations.
