About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer to be based in Rocky Hill, CT or Boston, MA. In this role, the Bridge Engineer will lead the design effort and project management for bridge projects in Connecticut and other states through AECOM's Northeast region. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) years of relevant experience in transportation structures or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and be willing to obtain reciprocity in the jurisdiction of the projects.
  • Experience using MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenBridge, and/or other similar computer software

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) years of relevant experience is preferred
  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering
  • Relevant experience working on 'mega' projects that are at/near a billion dollars
  • Project experience with CTDOT, MassDOT and/or other State DOT's is desired
  • Experience with CSi, Midas, AASHTO Ware, Bentley Suite
  • Railroad bridge experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead Structural Engineer on projects including reviewing designs and plans.
  • Provides specialized technical input on transportation related projects.
  • Manages bridge projects including design tasks and coordinating work with engineering staff.
  • Conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of new bridges utilizing pre-stressed concrete, reinforced concrete, structural steel, and timber components.
  • Assessment and rehabilitation design of existing bridges.
  • Load evaluation of existing bridges.
  • Prepares technical specifications and design documents, report writing, technical engineering support, and limited inspection during construction.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
