Our Forensic practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues. The Role We have an immediate opportunity for a Structural Associate with interests in structural design, structural forensic investigation, litigation support, risk loss consulting, and structural repair. This individual will be expected to execute new designs, structural investigations of existing buildings, and design remedial repairs for deficient conditions. Projects include new construction and retrofit in high rise, sports facilities, transportation, government and education buildings. Candidates for the position will lead teams, ensuring delivery of complex technical projects, while supporting business development opportunities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of structural engineering experience, including demonstrated project and staff management similar in function, size and scope to the above description.
  • Degree (Master’s preferred) in structural engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer and/or SE License required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the direction, coordination, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility.
  • Participate in business development activities with existing and new clients to help win new projects, and communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
  • Plan and formulate engineering program and organize project staff according to project requirements.
  • Perform analysis and design of structural systems for all types of buildings and materials using various building codes
  • Assist with damage assessment and cause and origin investigations.
  • Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, cost analyses, and specifications.
  • Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
  • Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and prepare materials related to presentations.
  • Manage and mentor other design team members.
  • Perform peer reviews and condition assessments, including order of magnitude cost estimating.
