About The Position

Structural Analysis Engineer - Level 2 (Associate) Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Structural Analysis Engineer – Level 2 (Associate) to join the Mobility, Surveillance, and Bombers (MS&B) Structures Capability Engineering team located in Tukwila, Washington. A successful member of this team will understand and execute modifications and upgrades for the MS&B programs. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Tukwila, Washington. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 2 or more years of experience in structural analysis
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required.
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques)
  • Experience with Aircraft Primary and/or Secondary Structures on Boeing Commercial Derivatives – Commercial and/or Military applications (737, 747, 757, 767 & 777)

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools, to support drawing release and limited support to the Manufacturing Review Board process.
  • Develops complex structural math models and performs analysis, using finite element methods, to develop internal loads and stresses in order to verify structural integrity.
  • Performs basic structural analysis to support response to customer inquiries, service bulletin development, failure investigation and regulatory agency coordination.
  • Performs structural analysis to support trade studies and configuration development.
  • Creates strength check notes to document analysis.
  • Provides inputs to formal documentation, to show compliance with Boeing, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops and supports in-house software to enable efficient performance of engineering tasks.
  • Assists in the research and preparation of data, to support definition of structural design requirements.
  • Works under general supervision.
