About The Position

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Entry Level and Associate Structural Analysis Engineer (Level 1 and Level 2) to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A successful member of this team will understand and execute modifications and upgrades for the Bombers (B-1 and/or B-52) programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
  • Exposure to Finite Element Models (FEM) in academic and classwork.
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance.
  • Able to independently construct, execute, review, and manage structural finite element models.
  • 1 or more years of experience in structural analysis.
  • Experience with Hypermesh, Abaqus CAE, and/or Nastran.
  • Experience validating or verifying finite element model results.
  • Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques).
  • Experience with Aircraft Primary Structures on Boeing Commercial Derivatives - Commercial and/or Military applications (737, 747, 757, 767 & 777).

Responsibilities

  • Performs limited structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Participates in various test activities to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Works under close supervision.
  • Performs basic structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools, to support drawing release and limited support to the Manufacturing Review Board process.
  • Develops complex structural math models and performs analysis, using finite element methods, to develop internal loads and stresses in order to verify structural integrity.
  • Performs basic structural analysis to support response to customer inquiries, service bulletin development, failure investigation and regulatory agency coordination.
  • Performs structural analysis to support trade studies and configuration development.
  • Creates strength check notes to document analysis.
  • Provides inputs to formal documentation, to show compliance with Boeing, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops and supports in-house software to enable efficient performance of engineering tasks.
  • Assists in the research and preparation of data, to support definition of structural design requirements.
  • Works under general supervision.
