About The Position

The Stress Engineer at RTX Corporation is responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and performance of components and systems through advanced analytical techniques. This role involves performing finite element analysis (FEA), evaluating materials, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize designs and ensure compliance with industry standards. The position plays a critical role in product safety and reliability, contributing to the overall success of aerospace projects.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status)
  • 1 or more years of experience with structural analysis (classical hand analysis and finite element skills)
  • 1 or more years of experience with FEM/FEA (Finite Element Modeling/Analysis) software
  • 1 or more years of experience with technical writing

Nice To Haves

  • Basic NASTRAN/Hypermesh or equivalent
  • Basic CATIA or equivalent
  • Aerospace structural analysis experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring designs meet applicable industry standards and requirements (e.g., FAA, EASA)
  • Creating detailed finite element models (FEM) of structures using tools such as NASTRAN, PATRAN, or HYPERMESH
  • Validating models against experimental data to ensure reliability
  • Performing static (linear or non-linear) analyses via classical or FEA solutions to evaluate stresses, strains, displacements, and overall structural behavior on either composite and metallic components
  • Ensuring appropriate material selection to achieve structural integrity, efficiency and durability
  • Collaborating with design and manufacturing teams to integrate structural considerations into the overall product design
  • Generating clear presentations, and analysis results for stakeholders
  • Preparing certification reports and analysis documentation for regulatory authorities
  • Participating in continuous improvement activities and events
  • Performing other duties as required
