About The Position

The Lead Stress Analyst at Leidos Defense Systems Sector will be part of a diverse team focused on creating innovative solutions for complex defense-related challenges. This role involves working on advanced defense systems, including directed microwave energy air defense systems and missile launcher platforms, among others. The analyst will utilize analytical methods and finite element models to perform stress analysis and collaborate closely with design and manufacturing teams to ensure that designs meet performance and manufacturability standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited university with a 3.5 or higher GPA.
• At least 4 years of stress analysis experience in industry with a BS degree, or 2 years with an MS degree.
• Demonstrated experience with commercial finite element analysis tools (e.g., FEMAP/NX NASTRAN, PATRAN/MSC NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Ability to write technical reports and present data to a multi-disciplined team.
• Capability to work in a collaborative engineering environment with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Willingness to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited university with a 3.5 or higher GPA.
• Experience with advanced structural analysis techniques (Linear contact FEA, Non-linear FEA).
• Knowledge of bolted joint and weld analysis, dynamics analysis (modal, response spectrum, shock, vibration), fatigue analysis, composite materials, and thermal analysis.

Responsibilities

• Use analytical methods and finite element models/simulations to produce models and perform analysis.
• Conduct calculations, data reduction, and correlate test results for structures and/or structural dynamics.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to produce compliant designs that meet performance and schedule requirements.
