About The Position

Cognito Systems, a Planned Systems International (PSI) joint venture, is seeking a Strength and Conditioning Specialist at Camp Pendleton, CA with the Marines - Sports Medicine Injury Prevention (SMIP). Reducing attrition and lost work days associated with musculoskeletal injuires in order to increase operational readiness of individual Marines and their units. The lives of our nation’s active-duty military depend on outstanding healthcare. As a civilian contractor working for Cognito Systems, you will serve as an Athletic Trainer, contributing to the mission of the United States Marine Corps’ Sports Medicine Injury Prevention (SMIP) Program. Your expertise will play a vital role in optimizing Marine performance and readiness. Requirements

  • US citizen
  • Able to read, write, and speak English
  • Maintain active BLS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate field- there is some room for interpretation with what an appropriate field is, examples below
  • Ex: Kinesiology, athletic training, exercise science, exercise physiology, biomechanics or education
  • Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Coach
  • Does not specifically require one certification as long as they have a certification from an accredited program
  • Example: National Strength and Conditioning Coach (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) CSCCa Strength and Conditioning Coach (SCCC)
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience as a strength and conditioning coach; 12 months of experience in preceding 36 months
  • Knowledge of human performance technology and utilization in program design
  • Maintain level of fitness that allows individual to demonstrate all prescribed exercises/activities and to hik erough terrain and function in auster environments
  • They will be working outside in the elements relatively frequently
  • Lift and manipulate weights up to 50 lbs
  • Knowledge of human perfomrance tehcnolofy and utilization in program design
  • Willing to work as a team with USMC Command Elements, ATs, and FFIs (Force Fitness Instructors)
  • Understand role of other human performance elements like physicians, PTs, and ATs

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Masters
  • Experience in military, D1 collegiate athletics, or Olympic/professional level
