About The Position

The Streets Maintenance Worker position at Provo City involves performing equipment operation and manual work related to the maintenance and repair of streets and roads. Requirements

• Valid Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with endorsement of N - Tanker required at time of appointment.
• Apprentice Streets Maintenance Worker: 1 year of general equipment operation and/or maintenance experience or other job-related experience.
• Streets Maintenance Worker: 2 years of experience as an Apprentice Streets Maintenance Worker; or 3 years of general equipment operation and/or maintenance experience.
• Sr. Streets Maintenance Worker: 2 years of experience as a Streets Maintenance Worker; or 5 years of comparable, job-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Patch holes in streets with asphalt.
• Operate a variety of road maintenance equipment.
• Perform minor repair and maintenance work on equipment such as snowplows, water trucks, street sweepers, and asphalt rollers.
• Operate crack sealing and weed sprayer equipment.
• Perform traffic safety functions including serving as a flagger.
• Fill dirt and road surfaces to grade specification.
• Maintain dirt road surfaces, shoulders, and parking lots.
• Lay asphalt to specifications with a paver.
• Perform demolition work.
• Manufacture and install traffic control devices and operate protective and marking devices.
• Clean spills on roads of commercial waste or at accident scenes.
• Report areas of City property requiring attention.
• Respond to public needs and assist the public within departmental rules.
• Perform the work of lower-level Street Maintenance Workers as needed.
