About The Position
The City of Yakima is seeking motivated workers to join their Streets Division. The position involves assisting in the maintenance of streets, sidewalks, alleys, drainage systems, and vegetation using light to medium construction equipment and hand and power tools. The role requires breaking concrete and asphalt, cleaning and reconstructing drains, operating trucks for snow plowing and material transport, and controlling traffic at work sites. Additionally, the position includes pruning vegetation, cleaning litter, and responding to police calls for accident scene clean-up. The worker may also guide small crews in completing various tasks and is expected to continuously improve operations and provide quality customer service. Shift work may be required periodically, and regular attendance is essential.
