About The Position

The Street Maintenance Worker I position is responsible for performing manual work functions related to the construction, repair, maintenance, landscaping, and grounds keeping of city streets, drainage systems, parks, and recreation facilities. This role involves operating various equipment and machinery, responding to emergency situations, and ensuring the safety of the work environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five months of previous experience and/or training involving equipment operation, manual labor, road maintenance/construction, or landscaping/grounds keeping.
• Valid State of Alabama driver's license.
• Valid Alabama Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Must be at least 18 years of age to work for the City of Daphne.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of basic arithmetic operations.
• Knowledge of landscaping techniques and the tools used to perform them.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual work functions associated with road construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
• Operate a variety of equipment, machinery, and tools used in department projects and activities.
• Transport, load, and unload various materials and equipment used in projects.
• Respond to emergency calls during hurricanes, inclement weather, or other emergency situations.
• Prepare or complete various forms, correspondence, reports, and maintenance reports.
• Communicate with supervisors, employees, other departments, and the public to coordinate work activities and resolve problems.
