About The Position

The Street Maintenance Worker I/II position is responsible for performing semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, storm drains, and related services. This role involves operating various construction equipment and ensuring the safety and efficiency of street maintenance activities. The position is promotional only, aimed at current employees of the City of Roseville who have completed their probationary period.

Requirements

  • No experience is required for Street Maintenance Worker I; some experience in streets maintenance installation and repair is highly desirable
  • Formal or informal education or training ensuring the ability to read and write at a necessary level for job performance
  • Possession of a valid California Class A driver's license with a tanker endorsement by end of probationary period for both levels
  • For Street Maintenance Worker II, one year of responsible experience performing street maintenance duties comparable to that of a Street Maintenance Worker I

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in operating construction equipment
  • Knowledge of storm drain, culverts, and retaining wall maintenance and installation
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a streets maintenance crew
  • Patch pavement and seal cracks
  • Remove graffiti
  • Perform bikeway maintenance
  • Construct forms, pour and finish concrete
  • Operate construction equipment such as dump trucks, rollers, motor graders, and excavators
  • Clean up debris from parking lots, walkways, ditches, alleys, and streets
  • Inspect and clear obstructions from storm drains
  • Identify equipment needs for each assigned project
  • Transport equipment/materials to job site
  • Install street barricades and cones prior to street repair activities
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and the public
  • Design, fabricate, repair, install, and clean traffic signs when assigned to Signing
  • Participate in painting and striping of City streets and curbs when assigned to Markings
