About The Position

The City of Rockport is looking for a dependable and hardworking Street Maintenance Technician to join our Public Works team. If you enjoy working outdoors, operating equipment, and making a direct impact on your community, this is the role for you! You'll help maintain and improve the streets and infrastructure that keep Rockport moving forward. Help keep our community running smoothly and safely by maintaining and repairing city streets. As a Street Maintenance Technician, you'll be part of a hardworking team dedicated to making everyday travel better for everyone.

Requirements

• A strong work ethic and a passion for hands-on, outdoor work.
• Solid knowledge of construction safety and maintenance practices.
• Ability to operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and effectively.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A willingness to adapt, learn, and support team goals.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in street maintenance or a similar role.
• Valid Texas driver’s license (or ability to obtain one).
• Ability to perform basic math, follow directions, and work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Patch potholes, seal cracks, and repair road surfaces.
• Paint curbs, crosswalks, and other pavement markings.
• Clean and maintain storm drains and assist with streetlight repairs.
• Trim trees, install traffic control signs, and help with holiday decorations.
• Haul materials and debris and operate light- to medium-duty vehicles and equipment.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools to get the job done safely and effectively.
• Set up barricades and ensure work zones are clearly marked.
• Perform daily maintenance checks on tools and equipment.
