About The Position

Responsible for performing general outside maintenance and property cleanup on assigned projects.

Requirements

• Some knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance.
• Skill in the operation of the listed tools and equipment.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
• Ability to perform minor maintenance on equipment, building and structures.
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• At least one (1) year of experience performing manual labor; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.
• Job duties require the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors and the public.
• Job duties require the ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.
• Job duties require ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions; planning, organizational, and communication skills; creative decision making; mathematical ability and time management.

Responsibilities

• Performs required labor involved in the cleanup of assigned properties within the city limits. Includes mowing, trimming, spraying for weeds, trimming trees, and removal of debris.
• Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and tools and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
• Checks fuel, oil and other fluids before operating equipment.
• Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
