About The Position

The position involves performing daily maintenance on equipment and vehicles, as well as general labor related to street maintenance and construction. The role requires basic skills and knowledge in operating medium to heavy equipment for various city projects, ensuring the upkeep and repair of streets and alleys.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a Class B Colorado CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the operation of medium to heavy equipment with the City of Glenwood Springs.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor.
  • Working knowledge of operational procedures of construction equipment and preventative maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with specialized medium and heavy equipment in street and alley projects.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of tools such as tampers, rollers, jackhammers, chainsaws, paint equipment, street sweepers, and other hand tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance on trucks and equipment, including checking tire pressure and fluid levels.
  • Follow all safety policies and department standard operating procedures.
  • Establish effective working relationships with other city employees and contractors.
  • Perform snow removal, road construction, ditch maintenance, asphalt repairs, clean-ups, and traffic control.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with 40 hours per week, or as needed.
  • Standby duty outside of normal working hours may be assigned.
