About The Position

Our mission is to prepare students to win with integrity-in academics, in athletics and in life. Texas Athletics Student Services is seeking Strategy Tutors for the Spring 2026 semester. Strategy Tutors will support student-athlete academic success by providing one-on-one academic support and monitoring the student’s daily academic preparation for class while teaching relevant study skills and time management strategies. The Strategy Tutor will report to the Assistant Director of Learning Services.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate student at The University of Texas at Austin, have already obtained a Bachelor’s degree, or have equivalent work experience
  • Current graduate students at The University of Texas at Austin must be enrolled full-time (NCAA Requirement)
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, effective and organized manner
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems using sound, inclusive reasoning and judgment
  • Must act equitably with integrity and accountability to self, others and the organization
  • Must adhere to all NCAA, University of Texas and University of Texas Athletics policies, rules and regulations
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Assist student-athletes in developing strong study habits and the skills needed to become independent learners by providing one-on-one academic support.
  • Support student-athlete learning with strategies to organize time effectively, adjust to the demands of collegiate academics and establish academic goals and objectives.
  • Encourage student-athletes to use the available tools and resources, including syllabi, calendars, content tutors, and campus resources.
  • Implement learning practices and techniques designed and requested by Learning Specialists.
  • Complete brief written reports regarding work with student-athletes and maintain regular communications with full-time staff.
  • Attend regular trainings as required by the NCAA, Texas Athletics, The University of Texas at Austin, and Student Services.
  • Maintain Academic Integrity in all work with student-athletes and follow all policies and procedures of The University of Texas at Austin, The NCAA, the Conference, and Student Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics.
  • Always act ethically.
  • Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program.
  • Actively participate in assigned education and training programs.
  • Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws.
  • Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income.
  • Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR.
  • Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation.
