The Strategy Support department is responsible for helping Publix leadership develop and implement strategies to achieve long-term company growth and objectives. As a Strategy Project Manager, you will lead and manage multiple business-critical projects, providing expert project management and team facilitation services to Publix business areas. In this role, you will work directly with business area leaders to translate goals into a scope of work that you and the project team will plan, organize and manage. This position reports to the Manager of Strategy. In Publix's corporate offices, we value in-person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. Many of Publix's corporate offices offer work from home up to two days a week. Each business area implements their policy differently and should be discussed during interviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in business, engineering, accounting, or related analytical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • at least four years of work experience in a corporate environment with at least two years of that experience managing projects (e.g., at the individual or group level)
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to lead without authority and negotiate with all levels of the organization
  • willingness to learn, and quickly assimilate project background information
  • critical thinking, problem solving, researching, and analytical skills
  • demonstrated ability to take responsibility for multiple projects
  • knowledge of organizational development and change management concepts, and communication techniques
  • ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
  • ability to develop strong-working relationships, and advise leaders
  • basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SharePoint and Office 365
  • intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • willingness to travel occasionally with overnight stays, work a variable work schedule, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require
  • be at least 20 years old and have a valid driver’s license and obtain authorization to drive a company vehicle (on or before the start date of the position)
  • willingness to commit to Publix and our Mission

Nice To Haves

  • MBA degree
  • five or more years of work experience in a corporate environment with at least three years of that experience directly working in project management
  • project management certification such as CAPM, PMP, PgMP, or Six Sigma
  • advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • knowledge of roles, responsibilities and interdependencies of Publix departments, and Publix corporate and business area strategies
  • understanding of financial planning, budgeting and project funding
  • ability to produce high-quality communication materials for senior audiences in accordance with Publix writing style and quality expectations
  • knowledge of generative AI tools to drive innovation or process improvement

Responsibilities

  • provide expert project management and team facilitation services for multiple tactical and business-critical projects
  • guide teams through business exercises (work study, business case development, decision making) and problem-solving methodologies
  • develop detailed project plans and status reporting, communicate project status to key stakeholders and efficiently organize information to reduce time and effort for decision making
  • ensure project deliverables are produced within established time frames, and work proactively to mitigate risk and overcome project issues
  • communicate with and advise decision makers and other stakeholders on the course, risks and decisions of the assigned projects
  • draft or help author project scopes, funding requests, team charters, presentations or officer communications
  • maintain an understanding of the supermarket industry and the teams your projects impact, including drivers, emerging trends, opportunities, and threats
  • leverage team members’ specialized skills, share best practices, and provide project management mentoring lead change management efforts to address emotions and behaviors resulting from project-induced changes
