About The Position

As Strategy & Planning Analyst, Commercial Reporting & Data Analytics, you will support the Olefins & Polyolefins Americas (O&P) Commercial Polymer Sales organization. Reporting to the Sr. Manager Strategy & Planning OPAM, you will be responsible for providing business units, functional units, and senior management with the relevant analysis necessary to understand and improve performance. The incumbent serves as the focal point for the development, management, and continuous improvement of performance reporting, analytics, and benchmarking tools. This role transforms complex business data into actionable insights that enhance commercial decision-making, market positioning, pricing strategy, and sales execution. As Strategy & Planning Analyst, you will provide O&P Americas senior business management with strategic, market, industry, economic and technology analyses necessary to understand and improve business performance. Other activities include coordinating and supporting the various stages of planning and decision-making processes such as the development of Sales Plans; provide market and other business inputs into Business Performance Management; evaluate and analyze industry data; and serve as the primary owner and executor of recurring reports and dashboards for the Commercial Polymer Sales team. The position requires interaction with various functional groups throughout the organization including Business Finance, Strategic Planning & Transactions, NA Polymers Commercial and Sales, and with external consultants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, or related field.
  • 6+ years of relevant chemical industry experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, evaluation, and judgment skills – demonstrated ability to handle complex, and often ambiguous analytical and evaluation assignments, including development of models used across the organization
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills consistent with a client group that includes Senior Managers & Executives
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement including in tools, reports, and processes
  • Advanced PC skills, including spreadsheets, database, graphics, statistical forecasting and modeling. Good information technology skills needed to access company data.
  • Strong data sourcing, preparation, and validation skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel; familiarity with SQL or similar tools preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively as a team member, and achieve results through the contributions of other people both within and outside of the immediate organization

Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical models enabling the business to evaluate pricing, sales performance, market trends, and asset competitiveness.
  • Meet Sales Planning milestones - review and update process and strategies for Sales Plan, support Commercial Sales team in preparing multi-year plan, contribute to preparation of corporate LRP premises.
  • Maintain intelligence on Polymers market, trade flows, competitor profiles, segment mapping, and company benchmarks.
  • Support Business Directors and Senior Management in preparing monthly and quarterly business review reports, Quarterly Earnings documents, and presentations for Executive Committee and Board meetings.
  • Lead creation and maintenance of benchmark reports comparing LYB performance to external indices, internal plans, competitive data, and market intelligence.
  • Synthesize market data (IHS, PTAI, ACC, etc.) into insights supporting commercial strategy.
  • Ensure proper data sourcing, validation, and integration across commercial, supply chain, and manufacturing systems.
  • Maintain strong data governance, documentation, and repeatable reporting workflows.
  • Work closely with Sales Directors, Account Managers, Pricing, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Strategy & Planning partners to align reporting with business needs.
  • Support leadership with ad‑hoc analysis and executive‑level presentations.
  • Contribute to the digitalization of the Strategy & Planning platform.
  • Liaise with the LYB Digital Transformation organization to advance data architecture, infrastructure, and analytics maturity.
  • Design, improve, and automate reporting frameworks using Power BI, and other analytical platforms.
  • Support new capabilities including profitability modeling, forecasting enhancements, and scenario analysis.
  • Encourage adoption of analytics and self‑service reporting within the Commercial Polymer Sales team.
