The Strategy & Analytics Manager for Cat Rental & Used division is responsible for focusing on driving sustainable growth through deep understanding of our customers and dealers by defining and providing exceptional support of our strategy, governance processes and analytical tools. Caterpillar Rental & Used (R&U) is a part of the Construction Industries (CI) segment. A primary role of R&U is to support and enhance Caterpillar’s dealer network, which is a competitive strength and the critical way in which we serve our customers. Role Definition: The Strategy & Analytics Manager is the team leader of up to 8 consultants, responsible for developing global strategy, global Rental & Used dealer data reporting, strategic analytics creation, and governance and supporting execution.

Requirements

  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
  • Stakeholder Management: Knowledge of stakeholder management techniques; ability to systematically identify stakeholders, analyze their needs and expectations, and implement various tasks to engage with them.
  • Consulting Process & Tools: Knowledge of consulting process; ability to engage in planning sales, conducting research and analysis, finding solutions and preparing recommendations.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Travel: 25-50% based on need

Nice To Haves

  • Strategy development and analytics experience: ability to understand data, drive insights and utilize to act and drive solutions
  • Knowledge of the heavy equipment industry and operating within a dealer network
  • Well-versed in and passionate about customer growth and success
  • Experience in the Rental and/or Used Equipment industry
  • Experience leading a team of strategy consultants, data reporting, and / or developing Power BI and Dashboard Insights
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and develop & coach team members

Responsibilities

  • Leads solution development and analyses for key strategy engagements as a divisional lead for a business segment.
  • Prepares complex ad hoc analysis to understand monitor strategy execution and delivery of expected business results.
  • Works closely with Rental and Used team leadership to define the business problem, issues and planned approach for one or more strategy engagement components as a divisional lead for the business segment.
  • Oversees performance of strategy engagement data collection, research and reporting activities and staff as a divisional lead or for a business segment.
  • Coaches junior team members and clients.
  • Provides recommended strategy solutions and meaningful insights.
  • Works with senior consultants / managers to develop and deliver R&U presentations as a divisional lead or for a business segment.
  • Serves as a trusted strategic perspective to senior leadership team.
