About The Position

This position supports the In-Service Strategic Submarines Program Office (PMS 396) which is part of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Program Executive Office Submarines (PEO SSBN), and Team Submarine (TSUB) providing engineering, logistics, and project management support to SSGN and SSBN Class Submarines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering.
  • Secret Clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • NAVSEA experience is preferred.
  • Submarine experience is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook software.
  • Expert knowledge of the Federal Supply System. This includes comprehensive knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) concepts, policies, procedures and techniques, and their application to weapon system acquisition, management and sustainment.
  • Familiarity with current Defense Industrial Base challenges.
  • Ability to develop new vendors and industrial capabilities PMS 396 can leverage to reduce supply chain risks.
  • Working knowledge of various databases utilized in accomplishing the research to develop and Maritime Industrial Base performance, including Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (N-ERP), Haystack, Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (PIEE), Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program (PDREP), the In-Service Submarine and Sustainment Reliability Portal (ISARP) and the Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) is required.
  • Provide Logistics review and analysis of change proposals, design improvement proposals, drawing changes, technical manual development, and lifecycle supportability/sustainment considerations.
  • Demonstrate ability to be a team player; works well with others; contributes positively to work/team environment while continually seeking ways to enhance contribution to the team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
  • High comfort level working with and around all military/organizational levels, clients, customers, suppliers, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with TFR and TDENT responses as required to ensure technical acceptance.
  • Interface with entire technical warrant holder (TWH) community to include NAVSEA 05, In-Service Engineering Agents (ISEAs) and Warfare centers to maintain awareness of technical system architecture of systems / components and risk associated with lifecycle maintenance and sustainability concerns for In-Service US/UK SSBN’s.
  • Perform data and risk analysis to forecast current and future engineering issues related to lifecycle maintenance and sustainability for in-service US/UK SSBNs.
  • Contribute to investigations of component failures and propose maintenance modifications.
  • Engage in evaluating potential component replacements to ensure compatibility in form, fit, and function.
  • Work with the Technical branch and other organizations to stay updated on new capabilities, address known gaps, and assess risks associated with new architecture.
  • Offer insights into financial requirements to support risk mitigation strategies
  • Coordinate with various ISEA for SWSS related issues including alterations, fleet training improvement, fleet feedback and fleet trends for sustainment.
  • Work with NAVSEA technical codes, SSP, and U.S. Fleet personnel to resolve in-service problems and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Provide recommendation for potential U.S./UK common design changes. Leverage common systems and parts to address obsolescence, supplier-based responsiveness and fleet maintenance trends.
  • Support the Obsolescence Team in development and execution of the Obsolescence Strategy for both the US and UK programs.
  • Assist with resolution of UK Technical Queries interfacing with various organizations for ultimate resolution.
  • Participate in the Engineering Face to Face Working Group.
  • Collaborate with SUBMEPP to ensure accurate updates to maintenance documentation, stay informed about Availability Work Package (AWP), and engage with technical study assessments as needed to support UK requests for component maintenance extensions.
  • Support SWS Weeks in Kings Bay, GA or Bangor, WA, and UK as needed.
  • Coordinate and facilitate key stakeholder engagements with the Technical Branch.
  • Coordinate across technical stakeholders including SEA05 and NSWC Corona to identify and implement changes to the Planned Maintenance Management Program (PMMP) for mitigating obsolescence issues.
