Strategic Sourcing Specialist
About The Position
GTI designs, engineers, and manufactures complex modular systems supporting energy storage, power generation, data center infrastructure, defense, and industrial markets. Operating in a high-mix, engineered-to-order manufacturing environment, GTI depends on disciplined sourcing execution and strong supplier partnerships to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives. GTI is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support Commodity Managers in executing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost, quality, and delivery performance across assigned commodities. This role focuses on supplier identification, RFQ execution, cost analysis, supplier performance tracking, and cross-functional coordination to ensure supply continuity and operational alignment. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist operates as a high-impact individual contributor supporting critical sourcing initiatives across fabrication, electrical, mechanical, and modular system components.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain roles within manufacturing
- Experience supporting RFQs, cost analysis, and supplier evaluation
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, machining, electrical assemblies, or industrial components
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs
- Experience working within ERP/MRP systems
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Advanced Excel proficiency including cost modeling and data analysis

- Familiarity with contract terms, supplier agreements, and commercial negotiation practices
- Experience collaborating with supplier quality or supplier development teams
Responsibilities
- Execute sourcing initiatives in alignment with commodity strategies defined by Commodity Managers
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers for fabrication, electrical, mechanical, and industrial components
- Develop and issue RFQ packages including drawings, specifications, BOMs, and technical documentation
- Analyze supplier quotations, perform cost breakdown comparisons, and recommend award decisions
- Support contract negotiation activities including pricing, lead times, payment terms, and service levels
- Maintain supplier scorecards tracking cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness metrics
- Monitor market conditions and commodity trends impacting steel, fabricated assemblies, electrical components, and mechanical systems
- Partner with Engineering to ensure sourcing alignment with technical specifications and DFM requirements
- Support supplier onboarding, documentation review, and compliance validation
- Track and mitigate supply risks including capacity constraints, lead time volatility, and quality concerns
- Maintain accurate supplier data and procurement records within ERP systems
- Support cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement programs
- Assist in resolving supplier-related quality or delivery escalations
