About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: This job contributes to Nordstrom success by effectively developing and leading sourcing strategy for capital-intensive Material Handling Equipment (MHE), automation, and warehousing solutions across greenfield, brownfield, and retrofit projects. This role partners closely with DC operations, Industrial Engineering, and Warehousing teams to manage suppliers and deliver a best-in-class experiences for our customers. Consistently delivers measurable and strategic goals to enable a competitive advantage to bottom-line and top-line company growth, and corporate social responsibility leadership. Manages a global spend of $100 Million plus depending upon company needs. The Strategic Sourcing Manager is an individual contributor role responsible for the sourcing of Product and Services in support of Nordstrom. This role is Hybrid and will require you to be in office 4 days per week in downtown Seattle, WA. A day in the life... •Manage the sourcing and contract life cycle of all spend categories as assigned. •Develop effective multi-year negotiation strategies in parallel to the business partners multi-year roadmap to enable network refresh success. •Work cross functionally and partner as a thought leader with a variety of internal teams (Engineering, DC Ops, Finance, etc) and collaborate effectively internally and with suppliers. •Employ strong knowledge of key industry players, competitors, and market dynamics in the world of MHE, automation, conveyance & sortation systems, and robotics. Strong knowledge of how Integrators, OEM’s, software systems, controls, and maintenance providers interact in this space. •Develop new effective business and professional relationships with strategic suppliers and industry players. •Professionally manage and measure suppliers for continuous performance and improvement through supplier score-carding and KBR’s. Experience measuring supplier performance KPI’s such as uptime, throughput, and installation timelines is a plus. •Employ advanced program and project management tools, solutions, and techniques. •Experience and familiarity drafting and redlining a wide variety of agreements including but not limited to MSA’s, SOW’s, and NDA’s. •Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines with competing priorities. •Effectively collaborate with strategic sourcing peers and the Visual Merchandising & Facilities leadership teams.

Requirements

  • 6+ years procurement analytic, procurement/sourcing manager, planning, supply chain or other relevant experience in warehousing, industrial engineering, automation, and material handling equipment. Experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement required.
  • Strong knowledge of Sourcing category strategy, supplier relationship management, should-cost’ models, and multi-year negotiation strategies, supplier continuous improvement programs and Lean Initiatives. Distributor/Supplier dynamics & business models
  • Knowledge of critical procurement legal requirements and contracting best practices
  • Knowledge of business ethics and Ethical Sourcing Requirements
  • Ability to influence at an Executive Level both internally and externally. Ability to lead and influence peer groups both internally and externally.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication
  • Strong experience with MS Office Suite, Coupa and others
  • Ability to structure bids, evaluate bids against a broad set of evaluation criteria and provide recommendations for vendor selection.
  • Vendor risk management experience
  • Knowledge of contracting trends, traditional and emerging contract models, and vendor performance models in the warehousing industry; expert negotiation tactics and strategies; proven track record of negotiations that result in cost savings and risk avoidance.
