About The Position

Book of the Month is seeking a tenacious and proactive Sourcing Consultant to support the strategic sourcing of new products, raw materials, and manufacturers for our growing non-book inventory. As a Sourcing Consultant, you will play a key role in identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating terms, and ensuring the quality and cost-effectiveness of our non-book merchandise. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the expansion of Book of the Month's offerings and enhance the value we provide to our members.

Requirements

  • A highly organized and detail-oriented individual with strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with external partners.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel in particular).
  • Proficiency in NetSuite is a plus.
  • A proactive and self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A deep understanding of sourcing principles and best practices.
  • Experience in sourcing products, raw materials, or manufacturers, preferably in the retail or e-commerce industry is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or a related role.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in NetSuite is a plus.
  • Experience in sourcing products, raw materials, or manufacturers, preferably in the retail or e-commerce industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research to identify potential new products, raw materials, and qualified manufacturers for non-book inventory (e.g., merchandise, gifts, packaging).
  • Evaluate potential suppliers based on factors such as cost, quality, lead time, reliability, and production capabilities.
  • Gather and analyze supplier information, including pricing, lead times, and specifications.
  • Support the preparation of requests for quotes (RFQs) and the evaluation of supplier bids.
  • Assist in the negotiation of contracts and terms with selected suppliers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, growth, and member experience, to understand product requirements and ensure alignment on sourcing decisions.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with new and existing suppliers.
  • Create and manage purchase orders (POs).
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies.
  • Stay up-to-date on market trends, industry best practices, and potential new suppliers.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a database of potential and approved suppliers.
  • Assist in the coordination of sample evaluation and quality control processes for new products and materials.
  • Support the onboarding process for new suppliers.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss sourcing initiatives and progress.
