About The Position

The Strategic Project Engineering Intern position at Xcel Energy offers an exciting opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in supporting capital work at various project sites, including solar and wind projects. Interns will engage in entry-level engineering analysis and gain valuable professional and technical skills through practical field experience and mentoring. The internship runs from May 2025 to September 2025, with the possibility of extending into the school semester.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Civil Constructional program.
• Must be a Junior or above as of Fall 2024.
• Graduating Seniors as of Spring 2025 are not eligible.
• Must have reliable personal transportation to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Support capital work at project sites alongside engineering staff.
• Perform entry-level engineering analysis tasks.
• Coordinate submittals and provide drawing support.
• Assist in construction planning and oversight.
• Conduct safety observations at project sites.
• Engage in vendor outreach and coordination.
