About The Position

The Strategic Program Director serves as a senior leader within the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) and is responsible for prioritizing and delivering a portfolio of the Ministry’s most critical initiatives. This role ensures that strategy and execution are tightly aligned across clinical, operational, financial, digital, and experience domains. The Strategic Program Director acts as a central integrator between Ministry strategy and operational execution, providing portfolio-level oversight, program governance, and delivery discipline to ensure that the Ministry’s highest-value initiatives achieve measurable impact. This role partners closely with executive leadership to guide prioritization, optimize resource deployment, manage risk, and ensure transparency and accountability across the enterprise portfolio. The Strategic Program Director supports Innovation directly through oversight of the portfolio management software, guiding opportunity development, driving best practices in program management, ensuring accuracy of reporting, and creating transparency across the Ministry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree Or High school diploma/GED and 4 years of progressively responsible professional experience in business, healthcare, innovation, or a related field in lieu of degree
  • 5 years of progressive experience in enterprise portfolio management, strategy execution, transformation, performance improvement, or operational leadership within a large, complex organization
  • 3 years of healthcare experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional, enterprise-level initiatives in a healthcare environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented
  • Strong understanding of healthcare delivery systems, financial drivers, and regulatory environment
  • Ability to adapt communication style for executives, clinicians, clinical leaders, and technical teams
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and manage competing priorities
  • Knowledge of portfolio, program and project management, performance improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, DMAIC, DMEDI, RIM), budgeting, and healthcare legislation
