About The Position

Tonic.ai is a fast-growing, Series B company operating at the critical intersection of data privacy and AI agents, making it an essential component of the modern AI stack. The fleet of AI agents combine advanced data synthesis, de-identification, and privacy-preserving techniques to enable high quality data generation and secure use of enterprise data for model training, fine-tuning, and software development—driving faster innovation, safer AI systems, and regulatory compliance while protecting customer data. The Strategic Finance Lead acts as the connective tissue between Finance, Business Operations, and Strategy. While you will own the financial architecture, your mandate extends far beyond the P&L. You will serve as a cross-functional operator who translates data into action, spearheading special projects for the C-suite, optimizing our PLG motion, and building the scalable operating systems required to navigate a complex, developer-first market. This is about driving operational excellence across Product, Engineering, and Sales just as much as it is about managing the budget. About the Role This is a high impact Strategic Finance role, distinct from a traditional back-office position, and spans Finance, Business Operations, and Strategy. The person in this role will act as a key strategic partner to the C-suite and VPs. Primary responsibilities include developing the company's "operating system" and taking the lead on major strategic challenges such as strategic planning, pricing and packaging, corporate development, and product analytics.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in a GTM Finance / Strategic Finance role at a high-growth technology company and/or direct investing (Private Equity, Investment Banking) covering enterprise SaaS/AI or consulting experience.
  • GTM Fluency: You understand the mechanics of Enterprise SaaS (ARR, NRR, CAC, Magic Number) and have experience partnering with Sales and Marketing leaders.
  • Analytical Rigor: You have world-class modeling skills and can translate complex data into clear, actionable strategic narratives for executives.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: You can effectively influence stakeholders across Product, Engineering, and Sales without direct authority.
  • Builder Mentality: You are excited to build processes from scratch and are comfortable rolling up your sleeves in a fast-paced, unstructured environment.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning & Analysis
  • Forecasting & Budgeting: Own the company-wide strategic planning process, including annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial modeling.
  • Pricing & Packaging: Analyze and iterate on pricing structures to maximize growth and retention, ensuring alignment with product value and market demand.
  • Corporate Development: Evaluate organic and inorganic growth opportunities, including M&A, strategic partnerships, and capital allocation strategies.
  • Business Operations & Execution
  • Special Projects: Lead mission-critical "special projects" requested by the C-suite and VPs across Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Sales. You will be the "first responder" to our most complex strategic challenges.
  • Scalable Processes: Build and refine scalable processes across finance, business, and growth to ensure the organization can operate efficiently at scale.
  • Systems Ownership: Own and optimize key finance and operating systems to ensure data integrity and operational leverage.
  • AI Automation & Adoption: Drive the adoption of AI and automation across finance, business, and operating systems to enhance efficiency, data accuracy, and operational leverage.
  • Cross-Functional Execution & Reporting
  • KPI and Metrics Reporting: Own the preparation of Board materials, Investor updates, and internal business reviews. Define and track company-wide KPIs and OKRs to ensure the business is aligned on performance.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with Product, Sales, Marketing, and Partnerships to align on strategic initiatives and investments.
  • Accounting Partnership: Coordinate with Accounting partners to ensure a bi-directional flow of information during close cycles, ensuring financial accuracy matches strategic intent.
  • Product-Led Growth (PLG) & Unit Economics: Own the reporting and analysis of PLG usage metrics, explicitly linking them to the company's P&L and unit economics.

Benefits

  • Impact: You will report directly to the CFO and have a front-row seat to the strategic decisions shaping the future of AI and data privacy.
  • Breadth: Unlike narrow FP&A roles, this position offers exposure to every facet of the business from product strategy to board room mechanics.
  • Culture: We value intellectual curiosity, autonomy, and a bias for action.
