About The Position

Parsons is looking for a public affairs lead to join our program team supporting a prominent Department of Homeland Security official. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with experience in leading integrated communication planning and execution within a highly matrixed organization. They have a proven ability to create impactful integrated communications campaigns and to incorporate inputs from program teams, legislative affairs, and government clients into compelling products and engagements. In this role, the candidate will handle daily communications and public relations activities and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure consistency in program, internal, and stakeholder messaging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or related field
  • 5-7+ years’ related experience
  • Experience with media relations and press release writing
  • Experience working on highly visible, impactful programs or with large, complex companies or clients.
  • Knowledge and relationships within the U.S. Federal Government, DHS, and CBP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of AP Style
  • Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills
  • Metrics-driven marketing mind with eye for creativity
  • Collaborative individual who is comfortable working with multiple personalities, groups, and can lead by influence
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • Experience with marketing automation and CRM tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily communication activities of a nationwide program team, collaborating with program leadership to enhance stakeholder understanding. This includes aligning internal and program stakeholder communications and supporting DHS organizations in their communication and advocacy efforts. The individual will also coordinate with Parsons’ Corporate Affairs team as needed to ensure the company’s messaging is consistent.
  • Work closely with members of the DHS and CBP public affairs team to develop a strategic messaging plan and provide them with the information needed to positively shape and secure favorable media coverage of the Department’s activities.
  • Work closely with members of DHS and CBP legislative affairs team to ensure they have the information they need to communicate with Members and their staff to make policy decisions that align with the Administration's objectives
  • Develop a weekly messaging program specifically for the CBP Commissioner, the DHS Secretary, and the President.
  • Support internal and external executive messaging development and visual products from Parsons data tools.
  • Effectively communicate to internal and external audiences the effectiveness of the company’s program.
  • Develop and track metrics to measure the success of internal and external marketing efforts with respect to brand exposure, etc.
  • Develop business cases to support new DHS strategies, budget requests, projects, and security plans.
  • Present ideas and final deliveries to internal and external teams, and communicate with senior leaders about marketing programs, strategies, and budgets.
